1:9. vĕʾaḥar yārĕdû bĕnê yĕhûdâ. This verse anticipates the Judahite campaigns that will be detailed through v. 20 (perhaps also v. 21), and in it the verb yārad, “to go down,” controls the troop maneuvers that will bring the region under tribal control. The adverb ʾaḥar does not specify the length of time before the fulfillment of an act.
